Amiga 500/500+ CIA Adapter for Raspberry Pi Drive No soldering is required - it's plug-and-play. This is a plug-and-play adapter for Amiga 500 and 500 Plus computers. It enables to run all 4 virtual floppy drives of the Amiga RPi Drive simultaneously on the internal floppy drive port. DIY, partially or completely assembled Amiga Raspberry Pi Drives are available from me on eBay as well. Please check my other items for sale. Standard installation procedure as follows: Simply disconnect the internal floppy drive ribbon cable from the Amiga’s mainboard. Then carefully pull the EVEN CIA (B) IC 8520 (U8) from its socket with appropriate tools. Place it onto the adapter's socket tightly but carefully. Plug the adapter into the original U8 IC socket and the internal floppy port at the same time. Plug the floppy ribbon cable into the connector on the adapter. That's it... I have tested this adapter
successfully on my Amiga 500 Plus (Rev.8A). Most newer revisions of the Amiga
500 mainboard should be compatible as well, but Rev.5 boards (possibly other
lower Revs as well) have a slightly different offset of the floppy drive header
and are therefore incompatible with this adapter. In this case, please ask for
other options. Real physical floppy drives may not be supported for all drive units out of the box. Drive units DF1, DF2 and DF3 may require an additional motor control signal (_MTRx). However, on this version of the adapter the signal can be added with a cable and activated via jumper. Modifications and soldering are done at your own risk. CIA IC not included in this sale! Expedited shipping
option preferred as it includes insurrance and would be safer in case of
any trouble with the current international shipping chaos. Although I have assembled and tested this adapter to the best of my abilities, I cannot take responsibility for any damage caused to your machine. Connection and usage is at your own risk! After all, this is a private sale of DIY equipment. Thanks for understanding!
